Episode 7 - The Most Important Gospel Practice
Gospel yourself. All day. Every day. If we don’t begin by speaking the Gospel to ourselves, then we will continue to try to fuel our own transformation with will power, cheerleading, and toxic shame. We must first learn to speak the Gospel to our own deepest needs. We must first learn to let the Gospel heal our warped image of God and self. We must first and continually learn the practice of Gospel Fluency.

What exactly is this guy advocating? Yes, I get that we must be creative in fulfilling the Great Commission, however, he painted such a broad picture that is was inclusive but vague in the details. Some Scripture would have kept everything anchored and centered.

So the statement was made about keeping commandments and then the next statement from Dave was about rocking up on Sunday - so ya'll not Sabbath keepers? Or you ascribe to tradition to keep Sunday because it's easier? Interesting... at first "keeping the Sabbath' was hard, but these days I consider it a blessing... I wish more of my brothers and sisters in Christ would keep a Saturday so that there were more options for loving worship communities for me to connect with. I know that's selfish but I am human and I desire loving community.

We had an elder in our church who was totally blind, BUT he could see through the Holy Spirit. He could tell you what you had on down to the button color. Physically blind but spiritually sighted. God's miracles don't always come the way we think they're supposed to come. We have to be open to how God chooses to display his power and grace and not orchestrate narratives in our heads on how he should go about doing his business.

Jesus did not do or say anything that He didn't first hear or see the Father do. The only way we can have the results Jesus had as far as seeing signs and wonders is to have such a close relationship with the Father that our direction from Him is so indelibly imprinted on our hearts and minds that we move through our day completely under His direction knowing what we ask Him for is what He has already shown us He desires to do through us.

It’s funny that anyone ever refers to themselves as a former pastor… I wonder what the Lord thinks of this. Discipleship is really at its core a system of getting people to do what you want them to do. There is no idea in scripture of individualized “discipleship”. The “command” Jesus gave that is popularly and erroneously called “the great commission” is really a fulfillment of Micah and Isaiah when the gospel would go out into the nations. This “commission” is found in the parallel gospels and is expressed as preaching the gospel. Paul never speaks of discipleship. He never commands it. Never gives instruction for it. Never asks the Corinthians why they aren’t being discipled. Never mentions making or multiplying disciples. “Go and disciple the nations” is about teaching the nations (outside of Israel) the good news.

We can't have a movement when church leaders only teach junk food ministry and refuse to provide solid food to the congregations. We can't have a movement when church leaders suppress ideas and don't know how to talk to the common Christian. We can't have a movement when all of our denominations and non-denominations are full of man-made doctrines. We can't have a movement when all the Christians have Idols in their homes and are okay with Idol worship. We can't have a movement when churches promote Pagans to leadership roles and refuse to eliminate Pagans from the church. We can't have a movement when our church leaders don't even understand God's Salvation Plan. We can't have a movement because church leaders think a movement is a Marketing Plan. We can't have a movement because none of our church leaders seek God. We can't have a movement because none of our church leaders love God more than they love their family and friends.

Discipleship amounts to accountability. Teaching and accountability. If there's no accountability among every member you might as well just forget it. So whether she goes or not is irrelevant.. what's relevant is you know what she's been doing and you're pretending not to know. You are the problem. And that's not According to Marc. That's according to first Corinthians, Romans.. according to decent and healthy New Testament theology. When you pretend there's nothing you can do you're the problem. No amount of getting her to go to a service of a light diet of spoon feeding will ever help.
